South Haven, MI
Good friends of ours invited some families to join them this past weekend at DeGrandChamp's farms in South Haven, MI for the cranberry harvest. It sounded like fun, and none of us had ever seen a cranberry bog up close, nor seen them harvested before. We had a WONDERFUL time.....finding new towns you want to return to is always a pleasure. South Haven is full of quaint shops full of ice cream, fudge, clothing, whatever your heart's desire, really. They are located right on Lake Michigan, so the beach draws quite a crowd in the summer, but there is much to do there year 'round. They have downhill skiing in the area, cross-country ski trails, (we'll be going back for that and Christmas shopping later in the year!), as well as wintry events in the town through the season.
{There is that "attempt" at a hat I made last week ;)}
{She hated the sour taste, and then went back for more! She grabbed it right out of the bog..sour!}
A gorgeous beach right there in town. The swells were huge that day, and yet some people were out surfing in bodysuits (50 degrees outside!), and the sailboat below, well, we thought for sure it was going over!
We recommend Captain Nemo's for inexpensive yet tasty food. They are located in the heart of downtown. We also enjoyed just walking down to the marina, and around the town. Even on a chilly October night, the town was bustling with people. We definitely enjoyed South Haven, and will be returning soon.
