Over the weekend, I had a few snippets of time, where I was able to sew a wee little bit for my newest family member. My nephew is a couple weeks old, and I needed to make some homemade love from his auntie, pronto! He lives halfway across the world, and I wanted them to see a theme when his mom and dad opened up their box. A theme somewhat of color, (blue), but mostly of elephants! Elephants and babes....sweet things. Also, there will be some other items including a hand-carved baby spoon with the babes name carved in it from a good friend of mine.
These onesies were so easy to make! It probably took a mere 10 minutes or so, start to finish! I had already laundered the onesies and the fabric. I then cut out the shapes I desired in the fabric...a lot easier to use rectangles or another easy to sew shape for these. Then I used fusible webbing to iron on the fabric, and sewed a simple zigzag stitch around them. Very simple and easy to do....but it is sew, pardon the pun, fun to do! I can see many, many of these mama made onesies in my future! My kiddos are having fun picking out what fabrics to put on the onesies for our newest babe on the way, and the sewing is so simple for these, that they can be involved in that process as well.
These are perfect for busy mama's who only have little pockets of time for sewing...just what I have most day's.
Warmly,
Joy
