With the flu season coming soon, I want to be making sure that I have natural items on hand to help fight sickensses that may be coming our way. I have purchased an elderberry syrup from a company I trust for the past couple of years, but the expense had me thinking there must be a way to make my own. The following link is a video to show you how to make your own elderberry syrup. Elderberries are flu fighters, and may head it off before it really hits you, if taken when symptoms first start to show up. They are especially helpful for flu, c olds, and bronchitis. By the way, did I mention how tasty elderberries are?

I have enjoyed mountain rose herbs as a company, and I know they come highly recommended by many. However, I personally have two other places I purchase my herbs at. One is a local health food store that stocks dried herbs, and the other that I HIGHLY recommend and love is Bulk Herb Store. There is a couple, James and Shoshanna Easling, who run Bulk Herb Store, and Shoshanna's parents started a ministry many years ago called No Greater Joy. I have been receiving their newsletter's for years, and have appreciated much of the wisdom they have shared in raising there children. Anyway, I have very close family who are missionaries, and Bulk Herb Store does support missionaries as well, which makes me want to support them all the more. They have gorgeous 100% silk scarves I am ordering for my daughters for Christmas, and when you order these hand-dyed, hand-made beauties, the money goes into helping missions.
As you might have guessed from the beginning of this post, that dried whole elderberries were next on my list of herbs to purchase. Next week I will share more about the herbs I am using, as well as stocking a natural medicine cabinet for the wintertime. Tomorrow, I will be hosting a giveaway for some homeopathic flu/cold medicine, to help you get started in stocking that cabinet!
Warmly,
Joy
