In the last couple of years, I have thought more and more about not only what goes into my body via my mouth, but also my skin. I mean, have you ever thought about the patch that some people use to stop smoking? It is transdermal, meaning the medicine is going directly onto their skin, and directly into their body this way. Also, we have a rub similar (yet a more natural version), of vicks vaporub called Winter Breeze from this company we love. When you are congested we rub it not only onto our chests, but also on the soles of our feet!
We are not only what we eat, but what we put onto our bodies! So many of the scrubs offered out there are full of unwanted ingredients, harsh perfumes that blow me away with their scents, and are expensive to boot! This natural body scrub my friend Nina came up with is so lovely and luxurious, and frugal, too!
If you'd like to try it here's what to do:
Ingredients:
Sea salt
Dead sea salts
Whatever body oils you prefer, such as avocado, sweet almond, or jojoba. I also like to add a little vegetable glycerin to this as well.
Any essential oil you prefer for scent.
Basically all you need to do know is that you fill 1/4 of the container (whichever size you prefer), with sea salt, 1/4 with dead sea salts, and the rest of the container will be your oils. You want to end up with twice as much oil as salt. The oils could be one type of oil, such as avocado, with your choice of essential oil for scent. Also, you might like a combo of nourishing body oils. Whatever you prefer, as long as you have twice as much oil as salt. Remember, a little vegetable glycerin is wonderful, too!
And no, I don't really recommend a glass jar for the shower, but it's what I grabbed today =) So above is what my layers of salts and oils look like, and then just cover and shake it vigorously to mix it up. (Today I used a combo of sweet almond and avocado oil with a bit of vegetable glycerin.) Now you are ready for a wonderful treat! I recommend just scrubbing until the salt dissolves....so good to reveal the softer skin underneath. Also, it's great to use in replacement of shaving cream, just rub until salt dissolves, and shave!
Here's to showers with no kiddos banging on the door,
Joy

In case you are curious...
Jojoba Oil--Is a wonderful moisturizer and carrier oil. It is anti-microbial, and and antioxidant high in vitamin E. Helps soften and invigorate the skin.
Sweet Almond Oil--It doesn't clog pores, but promotes clear, soft skin. Can be used even on very delicate skin as a moisturizer. It is known for facilitating rapid absorption of beneficial properties of essential oils, as well.
This sounds like a great idea. I bought a scrub containing Dead Sea Salts and to be honest the ingredients they used were virtually identical to the ones you have - but theirs was very expensive!!

Making this scrub takes virtually less than 5 minutes--and saves us money to boot! I do try sometimes to look at a label, and if there is only a few ingredients, it's not hard to figure out how to make it at home myself! Thanks for your comment, April!
