Here is to......

New dreams and aspirations......my daughter beginning horseback riding lessons.  She is getting horse fever..and my oldest seems to be catching it from her as well.....be careful....or yours will have it too!

Horseback riding lessons aren't just about sittin' pretty!  Oh, no....this involves work! 

Her first time on a horse!  Go cowgirl....go!  Well, maybe just walk your first time....I don't think my mama's heart could watch you running with that horse just yet! 

Children are such an inspiration to us to pursue and try new things....they seem to do that alot...and the older I get....well, I can forget to do that.  Thanks, honey, for the reminder to try something new today...somehow you teach me far more than I'll ever teach you.

What we are enjoying now....

 

Recently, my only boy and I decided to have some drawing fun together. 

 

We have really been enjoying how-to-draw types of books for him.  Being he is 5 yrs. old, it is a great age to introduce him to these types of books.  Around mid-morning, while the older girls are doing independant work, and my 2 yr.old joining us, we pull out the drawing books, and enjoy this time immensely!

 

He finishes a drawing, and then rushes into his big sisters to show them what he's done!

We have found that we like Prismacolor or Lyra Ferby colored pencils the best.  They have such rich colors, that it makes the drawing experience that much more enjoyable for me and my kiddos!

 

Of course, I draw right along with them.  If I set a little time aside during my day for being creative.....I feel I have accomplished so much more.  And when I join my children, I'm showing them that it's important to me.  Plus, it's a great bonding time, talking, laughing, creating together. 

Does it get better than that?

Right now I am grateful for.......

Clickity-clack

 

We have found very close to home, what I had been hoping to find this summer at garage sales, or maybe while thrifting.......a vintage typewriter.  Granted, it's not as cute as some, but it does the trick!  I thought I'd ask my mother-in-law if she had an old typewriter, and she had two!  Of course, they are the larger type, so one is enough. 

It is such a fun way for my 5 year old to practice his letter identification, writing out short words, and of course the noise is probably the best part! You can hear *clickity-clack, clickity-clack*...then a giggle because he got all the keys stuck together...he fixes it, then does it all over a few minutes later.  Now, that is frugal, fun and learning all wrapped into one!
